Orange is the New Black is another
one of Netflix’s hit original series. It focuses on one privileged woman’s
unfortunate journey to prison after getting involved with her ex-girlfriend’s
criminal past. The show focuses on a few other characters and how they ended up
in prison. One thing I really appreciate about Orange is the New Black is the
diversity of women within it and how authentically they portray their
characters. Though I didn’t expect it, Orange is the New Black has really great music for the
subject matter being about prison.
Orange is the New Black encompasses
what a good series is - though it is
predominantly a drama it also has moments of romance, comedy, and thrill.
Because of that, the music on Orange is the New Black also has to reflect those moments. Some of the
artist featured on the show include Regina Spektor, The Helio Sequence,
Leagues, Explosions in the Sky, Andrew Bird, Kaleo, Rag ‘N’ Bone Man, Elle
King, DeerHunter, Robyn, Bishop Briggs, Sylvan Esso, The Cinematic Orchestra.
Listen to one of my favorite bands, Sylvan Esso’s “Hey Mamí” that was featured
on Orange is the New Black below!
